📜 1. About This Statement
This accessibility statement applies to the DerbyUp app and its accompanying website. It outlines our current level of accessibility, areas still being improved, and how to contact us to report issues.
📋 Standards we work to meet:
Israeli Standard 5568 (based on WCAG 2.1) — Conformance level: AA | W3C WCAG 2.1 Level AA Guidelines
✅ 2. Existing Accessibility Features
DerbyUp includes the following accessibility features:
- Screen reader support: ARIA labels and semantic components to support screen reader software.
- Color contrast: Contrast ratios meet WCAG AA requirements (at least 4.5:1 for normal text).
- Keyboard navigation: The website can be navigated using a keyboard alone.
- Scalable text: Text can be enlarged up to 200% without loss of content.
- Hebrew and RTL support: The entire interface supports right-to-left text direction.
- Tap targets: Buttons and touch areas are large enough for comfortable use on touchscreens.
- Plain language: The interface is written in clear and simple language.
- Error messages: Error messages are clear and describe both the problem and the solution.
🔧 3. Areas Under Ongoing Improvement
We are aware of the following challenges and are working to address them:
Animations: Some animations may be challenging for users with motion sensitivity. We are evaluating the addition of a motion reduction option.
Complex content: Some charts and data tables may require additional ARIA improvements.
Native app: iOS app accessibility is continuously improved with each release.
📱 4. Accessibility in the Native iOS App
The DerbyUp iOS app works with Apple's VoiceOver and standard iOS accessibility settings:
- Support for VoiceOver (Apple's screen reader).
- Support for text size adjustments through device settings.
- Support for Reduce Motion mode to minimize animations.
- High color contrast throughout the interface.
🛠️ 5. Accessibility Implementation Details
DerbyUp was built with accessibility as part of the development process:
- Use of semantic HTML5 elements (
main,nav,section,button). - ARIA attributes (
aria-label,aria-live,role) for dynamic components. - Clear hierarchical heading structure (H1 → H2 → H3).
- Images include appropriate alternative text (alt text).
- All forms include appropriate labels.
- Color is not the sole means of conveying information.
